Standalone tool
PIP award rate checker.
Enter the points from a PIP decision letter, or click the descriptors from an assessment report. The tool totals daily living and mobility separately.
Important: this calculator only totals the points you enter or select. It does not decide whether DWP chose the correct descriptors.
Quick points check
Use this when someone already knows the total points for daily living and mobility.
Enter total points
Type the points exactly as shown on the decision letter or assessment report.
How the rate is worked out
PIP has two separate parts. Daily living and mobility are added up separately.
✓ 8 to 11 points usually indicates standard rate.
✓ 12 points or more usually indicates enhanced rate.
✓ 0 to 7 points does not indicate an award for that part.
Descriptor selector
Click one descriptor for each activity. This mirrors the layout people often see in reports.
Only one descriptor can be counted for each activity. If several could apply, DWP usually counts the highest applicable descriptor for that activity.
